Hello!

I am Shalissa, a registered Social Worker who is honored to work in support of folks on their life journey. I have worked with children and their families through the education and the child welfare systems. I am passionate about helping children and youth learn about their emotions and behaviors and how to express themselves. I work with children and youth who live with exceptionalities, traumas, anxiety, and depression.

I work with folks who have experienced trauma, chronic health diagnosis and life limiting diagnosis, and a variety of mental health concerns. I believe in taking a client centered approach, you are the expert in your own lived experience, and I am here to support you and offer you tools that work for you!

Working with Indigenous folks is a deeply meaningful part of my practice and I believe culturally led practice is so very important. Addressing systemic issues at a structural level through advocacy and creating community is a huge passion of mine!

I am a forever student. I love growing my knowledge and my competencies as a practitioner. I use various modalities such as, CBT, DBT, ACT, Habit Reversal Therapy.

Mackenzie Tomiuk, RSW BSW(HON)
Independent Contractor
Hi, my name is Mackenzie, and I am a Registered Social Worker from Timmins, ON.

I have experience supporting individuals and families through addiction, housing crises, human trafficking, abuse, and medical emergencies. My experience includes providing end-of-life and grief therapy, supporting parents through postpartum depression, adoption, and child loss, and working with children in schools who faced academic and home challenges. I have also worked in long-term care, offering therapeutic programming for seniors, and in the Emergency Department, responding in high-pressure situations.

My practice is client-centered, collaborative, and adaptable, with a particular focus on supporting children and families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while tailoring approaches to each client. I am passionate about culturally safe care, particularly in relation to intergenerational trauma within Indigenous communities, and I strive to provide support that fosters dignity and respect.

I also bring personal experience with neurodiversity as someone living with ADHD and as a mother of a child with autism. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, focused on connection, autonomy, and celebrating strengths rather than compliance.

I hold training in ASIST (suicide intervention), Cultural Competency, Red Path Substance Abuse Treatment, Anti-Human Trafficking, and First Aid/CPR. These skills allow me to provide safe, compassionate care across diverse client needs.

Outside of work, I value time outdoors and integrate mindfulness and grounding practices into my therapeutic work. My goal is always to create a safe space where clients feel understood and empowered.

I look forward to working with you!
