Shalissa Hannaberry, RSW BSW(HON)
Independent Contractor
Hello!

I am Shalissa, a registered Social Worker who is honored to work in support of folks on their life journey. I have worked with children and their families through the education and the child welfare systems. I am passionate about helping children and youth learn about their emotions and behaviors and how to express themselves. I work with children and youth who live with exceptionalities, traumas, anxiety, and depression.

I work with folks who have experienced trauma, chronic health diagnosis and life limiting diagnosis, and a variety of mental health concerns. I believe in taking a client centered approach, you are the expert in your own lived experience, and I am here to support you and offer you tools that work for you!

Working with Indigenous folks is a deeply meaningful part of my practice and I believe culturally led practice is so very important. Addressing systemic issues at a structural level through advocacy and creating community is a huge passion of mine!

I am a forever student. I love growing my knowledge and my competencies as a practitioner. I use various modalities such as, CBT, DBT, ACT, Habit Reversal Therapy.

My Social work Education started with My SSW from Northern College in 2014 and achieving my HBSW from Algoma University in 2019 graduating with High Honours.

I am certified in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills.

I look forward to meeting with you, and supporting you or your child in a non judgmental, positive atmosphere!

** Virtual Services Only**
Hi! My name is Kyla (Sweetgrass Knowledge Keeper Woman) and an Anishinaabe-Kwe from Whitefish River First Nation, in the Sudbury area.

Social work has always been a part of my life. I was raised in a strong circle of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit social workers and elders. I’m a Registered Clinician with over 13 years of experience, specializing in FASD, generational trauma, and addiction. My approach blends both Western and traditional wholistic practices to provide compassionate, client-centered therapy for youth, adults, and families.

I completed my Honours Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work at Laurentian University, followed by my Master of Social Work – Indigenous Field of Study at Wilfrid Laurier. I'm currently pursuing my Ph.D. at Queen’s University, where my research focuses on creating land-based healing for individuals who are part of the FASD spectrum.

My focus areas include Mental Health and Addictions, Men’s Mental Health, and counselling for individuals on the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum. I incorporate alternative, land-based healing practices rooted in Indigenous knowledge systems. I’m certified in Trauma-Informed Therapy and Radical Suicide Intervention, along with several other Western modalities to meet the diverse needs of the people I support.
